I mentioned a little while back that I bought a Cricut Explore Air 2 with my mom. We have been testing it out the last few days to see what we can make with it as we plan to turn our hobby (crafting) into a little business. We have a name and I’ve designed a logo and we’ve picked out a domain name already so that we can sell some of the stuff that we both make. We’ve both been doing different crafts for years now and have been trying a lot of new ones lately.
And I have to say the Cricut Explore Air 2 is a really great little machine! We’ve had so much fun with it. There is a little bit of a learning curve, especially if you don’t watch YouTube how-to’s first (oops), but not really much of one. It’s pretty easy to use and what you can do is almost endless! We have been making things with the Cricut Removable Vinyl and one of the first things I made with the vinyl was some basic stickers for my phone case which is a bit plain. I choose removable for this as I can remove and replace it if I get bored with them. That and I just wanted to see how well it sticks. It’s been on there a few days with no issues at all!
Next, we tried some Cricut Permanent Vinyl on a mug, a wine glass, and a candle (the feature image). My husband is a fan of skulls and we love camping so I made the mug below for him using the Cricut Permanent Vinyl. So far we have only tried Cricut brand materials but we will test out some other brand materials eventually.
The Cricut materials were so easy to work with and one we were supposed to put stuff on with the Cricut Transfer Tape it became much easier I would definitely recommend watching some how-to videos on YouTube so that you have an idea of what you’re doing so that you don’t waste a lot of stuff doing things incorrectly and making a mess.
Lastly, we made a t-shirt and hat for my Dad’s Birthday on Sunday. The whole family loves camping so we stuck with a camping theme for them as well. We used the Cricut Iron On Vinyl and the Cricut Easy Press 2 for this which my mom had bought a few days before. The t-shirt was super easy to make. The hat a little harder and we ended up using a craft iron for it rather than the EasyPress 2 in the end.
We spent the day today cleaning out the three-season room at my parent’s place to turn it into a crafts room as there is not enough room at our place. I plan to try and take some pictures and video’s of the process and do a proper review of both the Cricut Explore Air 2 and the Cricut Easy Press 2 sometime in the next few weeks. I have to work a little on my picture taking skills, something else I hope to improve over the next few months.
So, all in all, we absolutely loved both machines and would definitely recommend them to anyone who loves to craft and wants to make things like personalized mugs, glasses, clothing, and all kinds of things. It really is a lot of fun and both are so easy and fun to use!
