How many of you have gone on an impromptu trek to the beach which ended up in disaster because you forgot your sunscreen? I know I have. It happens to the best of us!
Yesterday was one of those days for me. My husband and I went to my parent’s place to help them out around the house. My mom and I decided to go for a walk along the beach at the back of their property. It was absolutely beautiful. I wasn’t even thinking about sunscreen or anything else, I mean, it’s May. Obviously, that makes no difference… I am now sporting my first sunburn of the summer season.
It’s just a reminder to always be prepared. So what are my must-have’s for the beach? I tend to keep a bag in the trunk of my car with a towel, bathing suit, sunscreen, flip flops, and other things. That way if it was not planned I can just grab a few snacks and water at a convenience or grocery store and be prepared to go.
It’s always important to have a good-sized bag to put everything in. This is not my actual bag as I need a new one, my last one ripped. I am thinking of getting this one from Amazon for this year. I love that it has a cooler for snacks and that it’s mesh so that my wet things can breathe inside the bag and not mildew.
Good sun protection is a must. I always try to have sunscreen, after-sun lotion, and lip protection, as well as a pair of sunglasses. I usually leave a light sweatshirt in the back of my car as well.
Anyone who has worn sneakers in the sand will understand what I mean when I say you will want a good pair of rubber-soled flip flops or sandals in your bag. There is nothing worse than trying to get sand out of your socks and sneakers! I prefer flip flops myself as they are super easy to clean and typically I just let my feet dry and then brush the sand off after.
A Brita water bottle is a must! That way you can pretty much fill it up just about anywhere. I love the colors it comes in and the durability of them. Plus they filter your water if you end up needing to get it out of a (drink-safe) tap.
Of course, you can’t forget your beach towel! These beach towels from Amazon Basics are just under $27 for 2, you can’t really beat that price for two, not for the same quality! I always keep one in my bag.
Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker
I will be honest, though I have a portable Bluetooth speaker it is not this one. The one I have you can not get anymore and while looking on Amazon I saw this one and want it! It can be used in the shower as well! It’s under $10, has good ratings and you can control your music and answer your phone with it.
Portable Phone Charger
This again is something I have, a portable phone charger but not the exact one above. I don’t even know what brand mine is but it sucks. I have been looking in stores for a new one but haven’t picked anything up yet. I just noticed these and it looks like a good deal! Oh, and there are multiple designs!
One of the last things in my bag (sometimes) is a book. Sometimes I just read on my phone. This is the current book I am reading right now. There is nothing more relaxing than laying on a towel or sitting in a chair at the beach reading a book!
Well, that’s about all that I carry in my beach bag. I don’t believe I’ve forgotten anything, well other than a bathing suit but that’s a given. What kinds of things are in your beach/summer bag? Did I miss anything you think is important? Let me know in the comments below.
